wow…. more then a year later people are STILL commenting on this video… thats just how AHMAZING phelps is
i have to say this but phelps got REAL lucky on that one. luck plus talent gives us micheal phelps.
Still love to watch this
This was an amzing race
this was SO AMAZING.
michael phelps is amazing !
i remember watching this live, and i was absolutely SCREAMING my lungs off! it was one of the greatest moments in swimming history.
Phelps won even though omega says he wins, in slow-mo it looks like he won
HOLY *UCK!!!!!
Unbelievable!
This brings back so many memories. I remember the whole family setting the alarm for 4:30 AM to watch this live on Eurosport.
This is one of THE great sporting drama moments.
I personally think that this Olympic games have been the best so far, I mean Michael winning 8 gold medals!!, Usain Bolt breaking 3 world records!!, and the opening ceremony was just amazing.
oh, in their prime
yeah, it would be competitive.
it was cleary a hypothetical examining the relative merits of both swimmers in their prime.
no need to be pedantic.
dude you do realize that Spitz is almost 70 years old. OK, just so you know.
you’re saying that phelps will beat spitz in a swimming race.
spitz is old.
“no shit sherlock.”
no shit sherlock
yeah. spitz is like 70.
Spitz and Phelps both wearing the same knee length textile jammer any distance in a modern pool, Phelps wins convincingly.
Perhaps the 50m free might see Spitz go close, but if Phelps gets a good start and underwater then he would probably hold him off.
jesus chirst kid u dont even know how to fucking read my comment i said if uv been practicing for wat ever months you still cant to it and my comment was a reply to a dumb ass who said they can learn it in a certain amont of time
its not that hard dude…to someone who has never swam before, its hard…but to someone who has been doing it their whole life…its not that hard
“Michael Phelps, you are absolutely invincible”
This video is amazing i just get that boost to train fly more and more when i watch this
No i think that was the 200 meter fly. We won first that race, except after that race, he closed his eyes in pain because he goggles filled up with water instead of celebrating.
Well, if we go into what suits are allowed and what suits aren’t, then most of Phelps’ records would have to be corrected to adhere to a certain standard. Mark Spitz didn’t have the materials of today. He’d still be a great swimmer and all, but most of the “achievements” in world record swimming have more to do with science than with sport.
But yes, he did have a newer, better, smoother suit than Phelps.
